More Important Than a Business Plan: What Every Company Must Do.

What is the number one most important thing that people need to be successful in business? What is it that gives some businesses the ‘It-Factor’, and not others?
It is a paradigm shift on the way business owners think of their business.
If you are thinking of starting a business, just launching your company, or already in operation, I strongly encourage you to think about this idea. I want you to think about how you look at your business.
How would you describe the business you’re in? How would you describe the product or service you offer?
If you answered; “That’s easy, I’m in the pizza business”, I would argue that you should be in the dining experience business.
If you answered; “I’m in the toy business”, again I would argue that you should be in the memorable shopping business.
By making this paradigm shift, you will take a different approach to most aspects of your operations. Let me give you an example;
Because you are now in the dining experience business, decisions about menu changes, food presentation, pricing, customer service, etc. all become so much easier to answer now that you have clear focus on the business you’re in. So instead of looking at new dining ware for the restaurant and thinking only about the cost and if the old ones really need replacing, you’ll instead have a different approach. You’ll instead look at how the new dining ware will enhance the customer’s dining experience. Will the enhancement of the dining experience warrant the cost of the new dining ware? Will we receive an ROI (return on investment) into our customer’s dining experience that is worth the investment?
By looking at your business through this new paradigm, you will receive the best ROI on your time. Work on the customer experience, instead of looking at the bolts and nuts of the decision, and you’ll grow your business well into the future.
This is why a paradigm shift is the number one most important thing you can do for your business, even more important than a detailed business plan!
